Last year was full of performances and promotion for Tennessee artist Valerie June. Her schedule even included a stop at Farm Aid with Willie Nelson. Starting with the release of The Order of Time, the follow-up to her 2013 record co-produced by Dan Auerbach, the singer-songwriter has been on the move. Given her nasally, profoundly affected and haunted voice, it makes sense she's a star on the rise. Her music stems from that old-timey sound and possesses a sort of calming blues effect. With its lyrical prose and musicality, the latest record is especially moving. June is sure to bring all of that sensibility to the Beachland Ballroom stage tonight. (Morrison)
