After 11 years in business, Sweet Melissa announced that it will cease operations in Rocky River (19337 Detroit Rd., 440-333-6357) on May 26. The popular all-day cafe was run by Matthew and Melissa Ullom. In a Facebook post (see below), the owners offered thanks to their many loyal customers.
Last year, the crew decided to shutter its University Heights location near the campus of John Carroll University after a four-year run.
Here is the letter to customers announcing the closure.
"On April 28th, Sweet Melissa rocky river celebrated 11 years of business. In those 11 years, you have given us the incredible opportunity to serve you. We have met so many wonderful people and have crafted lifelong relationships. You’ve welcomed us into your homes and have invited us to celebrate countless special days with you. That is why we want you to hear this directly from us and why it makes this difficult to share.
After careful consideration and with heavy hearts, we have decided not to renew our lease. Sweet Melissa will be closing it’s doors on May 26th, 2019.
We invite you all to come by and have an amazing meal and share your memories with us as we prepare to say goodbye.
To our customers and guests, we thank you for many wonderful years and always trusting us to deliver a memorable experience.
To our staff, past and present, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being the foundation that carried our business for so many years.
Thank you again, for an amazing 11 years in Rocky River! We look forward to seeing you all again soon!"
