Of all the bands named after Russ Meyer flicks (Mudhoney, Faster Pussycat, Motorpsycho, Vixen), My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult seems most inspired by the filmmaker's bawdy vision of the world. For 15 years, the Chicago ensemble has titillated concertgoers with over-the-top live sets, complete with GWAR-like creatures, voluptuous showgirls, and fire-breathing antics. The group even leaves room for some music: a postmodern schizophrenic mix of art-house glam-slamming, Eurotrash disco sexplorations, and dance-floor electro-throb that hits plenty hard.

Though the Thrill Kill Kult hasn't scored a radio hit since 1991's "Sex on Wheelz," it has thrived in a subterranean netherworld of its own creation, dropping a succession of under-the-radar albums. The act now records on its own SleazeBox imprint, which recently released the Thrill Kill Kult's first in-concert effort, Elektrick Inferno Live. The nationwide Inferno jaunt features the Thrill Kill Kult's usual carnival-of-soul shenanigans, with the band dusting off a number of rarely played ditties for the first time in years.
