Back From the Back (www.myspace.com/sindust)

Sindust Peabody's Friday, November 17
Sindust takes hard-riffing half-metal songs and sends them in radio's direction, ruining some quality fist-pumping rock tunes like "One Take," "7ams," and "Kid Ego" with melodic by-the-numbers modern-rock choruses. The soft-loud-soft paradigm has been replaced by rough-delicate-rough, and albums like Sindust's Back From the Dust don't make a solid argument for what kind of group you're listening to: Are they sensitive guys being tough? Tough guys being sensitive? The duality might impress the ladies, but it makes for a dull record. Good production, though.
