Former Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jimmy Dimora slipped in a puddle back in 2012 and now he's suing the Northeast Ohio Correctional Center and the Corrections Corporation of America for some $50,000 in physical, emotional, and financial damages, the Columbus Dispatch reports.

Dimora's lawyers said their client suffered "pretty extensive" injuries to his knee and back after slipping in a puddle caused by a leaking roof two years ago, and requires surgery which has yet to be scheduled.

A state prisons spokeswoman said the state has no contract with the private prison in which Dimora took his spill, and thus cannot be held accountable.

Dimora's lawyers said that if, indeed, the state has no contract, the case for their client, who is currently serving a 28 year prison sentence on federal racketeering and bribery convictions, will be dismissed.
