The British electronic band’s new album, Gravity the Seducer, comes out next week. We have a CD copy of the album, a vinyl copy of the album, five older CDs, a flexidisc, and a DVD with some of their videos.

The Lost in Space robot had a better sense of humor than any of the Space Family Robinson. The only way Dr. Smith could shut him down was to pull out his battery pack. B-9 could have jacked him up with plasma bolts from his pinchers, but didn’t because verbally bitch slapping Smith was the only way he could keep from tearing Will’s head off every time he said “robutt”.
From Lost In Space….The Robot: The Robot is a Class M-3 Model B9, General Utility Non-Theorizing Environmental Control Robot, which had no given name. Although a machine endowed with superhuman strength and futuristic weaponry, he often displayed human characteristics such as laughter, sadness, and mockery as well as singing and playing the guitar. The Robot was performed by Bob May in a prop costume built by Bob Stewart. The voice was dubbed by Dick Tufeld, who was also the series’ narrator. The Robot was designed by Robert Kinoshita, whose other cybernetic claim to fame is as the designer of Forbidden Planet’s Robby the Robot. Robby appears in LIS #20 “War of the Robots”, and the first episode of season three; “Condemned of Space”.
I gotta go with Gigolo Joe from “A.I. Artificial Intelligence”. Not only did Jude Law give an excellent performance in his roll, but the idea of representing the “perfect companion”, a male prostitute robot programmed with the ability to mimic love as his sole purpose, was an interesting idea. He could change his hair, clothes, etc. to represent what his partner wanted and needed to give them some respite from the world. Who wouldn’t like to be him for a day (week, month, career)!? A lover not a fighter, who could dance to Ladytron …
Will Smith in “I, Robot”. Wait, he wasn’t a robot? His acting sure looked like it.
Who else but C3P0? “Oh my!” The Ewoks weren’t the only ones to think he was a god!

What about the MARS rovers… Opportunity and Spirit ? I watched the Ladytron video and the time-lapse stuff is always neat… when will we see time-lapse animations of Mars? That would be really neat to see the Martian sky in motion.
Marvin the chronically depressed robot from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series! If you ever see the Disney movie version (not recommended), the scenes with Marvin are the better ones, and he is voiced by the great Alan Rickman.
