Cleveland is huge in Canada. At least, a little more so now that Scene Dining Editor Douglas Trattner penned a glowing travel feature about our fair city for the Globe & Mail, Canada’s national paper.

In it, Trattner dishes on everything from bike-friendly infrastructure to sustainability minded chick-and-bees legislation. But mostly he dishes on the food and drink. Hotspots like Happy Dog and Lolita are in there as is Momocho and Society Lounge.

Better still is the Ohio City pub crawl that guides tipsy Canadians from Great Lakes Brewing to tiny Nano Brew:

When Great Lakes Brewing Co. launched in 1988, it was the sole craft brewery in the state let alone the neighbourhood. Now there are three microbreweries in Ohio City with more on the way. Start with a pint in Great Lakes’ historic Taproom (2516 Market Ave., 216-771-4404, www.greatlakesbrewing.com), which carries non-distributed varieties. Cross the street to the new Market Garden Brewery (1947 W. 25th St., 216-621-4000, marketgardenbrewery.com), where a full line-up of craft drafts are enjoyed in an open-air beer garden. Just down the block, the pint-size Nano Brew (1859 W. 25th St., 216-862-6631, nanobrewcleveland.com) brews up excellent ales in a tiny one-barrel system, on view in the main room.

Read the whole darn thing right here, eh?

  2. Huh??? What is that chick talking about???

Anyway lets not throw this “How cool Cleveland is” thing around so much…Best form of advertising is word of mouth, not an article written by a local regurgitating typical CleOh haunts…
    New ones ? Sure….
    -Miami Cafe in Old Brooklyn
Johnny’s on Fulton expensive tho but damn good!!!
-Joe’s Deli in Rocky River…You don’t even know how effing good this one is…
    – Little Italy…Hell they can spend a day eating here and LOVE IT….

    Just sayin’…

  3. It’s important to reach potential visitors from other states and even other countries. Word of mouth isn’t going to reach those people. His article reached the intended audience with a good example of what Cleveland has to offer. Once the visitors are here then word of mouth will get them to the other great examples of Cleveland.

  4. So, “enviroarts” is on crack, but moving on…

Great to see C-Town get a positive shout out in a paper for our neighbors up north. Cleveland really is a great place and has an awesome food scene, so the more people that know about it the better as far as I’m concerned. And yes, that whole crawl idea is an excellent one (and its fun too).

  5. who is this stupid freaking enviroarts person? is she hallucinating on drugs again?
