Under the direction of Alain Altinoglu, the Cleveland Orchestra takes on Ravel’s magical Suite No. 2 from Daphnis and Chloé. Known for its ethereal colors and subtle sensuality, the piece brings an “aura of poetry” to the pastoral story of Daphnis and Chloé. The performance takes place tonight and tomorrow night at 8 at Severance Hall. A performance also takes place at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Guest speaker Eric Charnofsky, an instructor in the department of music at Case Western Reserve University, delivers the pre-concert talk “From St. Petersburg to Paris: A Russian-French Exploration” an hour before each performance. Tickets start at $29. (Niesel)
