Shows You Should See This Week

Fall Out Boy at Time Warner Cable Amphitheater at Tower City on Tuesday — Their latest album, Folie à Deux, loads up on the pop-punk tunefulness that made them a hit with both blogging tweens and their SUV-drivin' moms. The record's centerpiece, "What a Catch, Donnie," is FOB's best song since "Sugar, We're Goin Down."

Lady Sovereign and Chester French at the Grog Shop on Tuesday — Her 1986 fashion sense annoys the hell out of me. So do her self-conscious rhymes at times. But Sov's new album, Jigsaw, is thankfully more clubs than streets. Preppy smartasses Chester French play synth-pop that also dates back to the '80s.

Bonnie Prince Billy at the Beachland Ballroom on Wednesday — Will Oldham has been doing this for so long (under his own name, with various Palace monikers and as Bonnie Prince Billy), it often sounds like he's sleeptalking through shows these days. No matter. His new album, Beware, is his best in years. Pass the weed.

Kings of Leon at Time Warner Cable Amphitheater at Tower City on Tuesday — The Stones-y struts all over these model-shaggin' Southern boys' Only by the Night make it their best album since their 2003 debut. It's also the first where Caleb Followill doesn't mumble the lyrics. So yay for that. —Michael Gallucci
