Strange Familiar pop Jaded Era

Technically, former Jaded Era principals Kira Leyden and Jeff Andrea haven't completely relocated from the Rubber City to sunny Los Angeles . . . yet. After recording the You Can't Go Back EP with producer Brian Malouf (Madonna, Michael Jackson, and Bon Jovi) in California, they temporarily moved to the Golden State to make a run at the music industry. It's working out, so you may not see them again until the holidays. Buoyed by a series of appearances in an ABC Family Channel campaign, the gorgeous piano-fueled "Courage Is . . ." has cracked the iTunes Top 10 rock chart. Buyers who download the entire EP won't be disappointed. "I Know Your Name" picks up the pace, and on the closing "Never Be," Leyden holds her own against a wall of guitar. Jaded Era sounded like a '90s relic. Here, Leyden develops her own ethereal voice, and the band's swooning, elegant pop is timeless.
