Released a few years ago,
Sound and Chaos: The Story of BC Studio isn’t your everyday documentary film about gentrification in New York. It also tells the story of cutting-edge producer and musician Martin Bisi, a guy who’s worked with acts such as Sonic Youth, Swans, Dresden Dolls, Cop Shoot Cop, John Zorn, Africa Bambaataa, Material/Bill Laswell, Boredoms, Herbie Hancock’s "Rockit," White Zombie, Foetus, Helmet, Unsane, Serena Maneesh, US Maple and Jon Spencer's Boss Hog at his BC Studio in Gowanus, Brooklyn.
Bisi’s new album,
BC35, chronicles a weekend of performances recorded live at BC Studio in January 2016 as a celebration of the studio's 35th anniversary. BC Studio alumni such as current and former members of Sonic Youth, Swans, White Hills, Foetus, Cop Shoot Cop, Live Skull, Pop 1280, Violent Femmes, the Dresden Dolls, Alice Donut and Lubricated Goat appear on the album, which features improvised pieces as well as songs written exclusively for the concert.
Currently on tour to promote the release, Bisi comes to the
Happy Dog on Tuesday, July 3. Local rockers Hiram-Maxim, a band that he’s recorded, share the bill.
The show starts at 9:30 p.m., and tickets are $6.
